Pivot Point Calculator
Enter the previous session's high, low, and close to get today's pivot, support, and resistance levels across five popular methods.
| Level | Classic | Fibonacci | Woodie | Camarilla | DeMark |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| R4 | - | - | - | - | - |
| R3 | - | - | - | - | - |
| R2 | - | - | - | - | - |
| R1 | - | - | - | - | - |
| P | - | - | - | - | - |
| S1 | - | - | - | - | - |
| S2 | - | - | - | - | - |
| S3 | - | - | - | - | - |
| S4 | - | - | - | - | - |
R = resistance, S = support, P = pivot. A dash means that method doesn't define the level.
The formulas
Classic
P = (H + L + C) ÷ 3 · R1 = 2P − L · S1 = 2P − H · R2 = P + (H − L) · S2 = P − (H − L) · R3 = H + 2(P − L) · S3 = L − 2(H − P)
Fibonacci
P = (H + L + C) ÷ 3 · R1/S1 = P ± 0.382 × (H − L) · R2/S2 = P ± 0.618 × (H − L) · R3/S3 = P ± (H − L)
Woodie
P = (H + L + 2C) ÷ 4 · R1 = 2P − L · S1 = 2P − H · R2 = P + (H − L) · S2 = P − (H − L)
Camarilla
R/S n = C ± (H − L) × 1.1 ÷ k, where k = 12, 6, 4, 2 for levels 1 to 4
DeMark
X = H + 2L + C if C < O; 2H + L + C if C > O; H + L + 2C if C = O · P = X ÷ 4 · R1 = X ÷ 2 − L · S1 = X ÷ 2 − H
Pivots are most useful when they line up with something else: a prior swing, a round number, or a Fibonacci level.
Frequently asked questions
How are pivot points calculated? +
Classic pivot points start with P = (high + low + close) ÷ 3 from the previous session. Resistance and support levels are built off that: R1 = 2P − low, S1 = 2P − high, R2 = P + (high − low), S2 = P − (high − low), and so on.
Which pivot point method is best? +
Classic pivots are the most widely watched, which makes them the most likely to matter. Camarilla levels sit closer to the prior close and suit intraday mean-reversion traders. Fibonacci pivots space levels by Fibonacci ratios. There's no single best; many traders pick one and stick with it.
What high, low, and close should I use? +
Use the previous completed period for the timeframe you trade: yesterday's session for daily pivots, last week's for weekly pivots, last month's for monthly pivots.
Why does DeMark need the open? +
DeMark pivots weight the calculation differently depending on whether the prior session closed above, below, or at its open, so the open price is required. The other methods ignore it.
